The Mystical Rose

Br Ursus, inspired by the Rosary Rose he received on the feast of Our Lady of the Rosary has been reading Blessed John Henry's book, 'The Mystical Rose'

Mary is the most beautiful flower that ever was seen in the spiritual world. It is by the power of God's grace that from this barren and desolate earth there have ever sprung up at all flowers of holiness and glory. And Mary is the Queen of them. She is the Queen of spiritual flowers; and therefore she is called the Rose, for the rose is fitly called of all flowers the most beautiful.

  1. And proof that roses truly ARE her flower: my Catholic friend, Traci, has two sons - both are a handful. Her elder son was on the roof of their garage with friends when he decided to look over the ledge, which MIGHT have been ok if he hadn't decided that he hated the stickers on his shoes at the same time. He bent over to take them off and lost his balance, going off the edge of the roof headfirst - and landed in....you guessed it, a rosebush.

He is unharmed except for scratches and scrapes, but it could have been a very different day for Traci, her family and all of us who love them. If that's not a Mother's care, I don't know what is. The Rose, indeed. xx
