"And now we know the excellence of this pillar, which the bright fire lights for the honour of God. Which fire, though now divided, suffers no loss from the communication of its light, because it is fed by the melted wax, which the mother bee wrought for the substance of this precious lamp" (from the
Exsultet).
Hearing it was made by honeybees Br Ursus volunteered to light the Paschal candle.
Could he emulate another distinguished ursine, and use a balloon ?
ReplyDeleteBless you for making me smile....
ReplyDeleteBr. Ursus is obviously a bear who will go places, but not the New Forest...just yet!!

Genius!
ReplyDeleteThis would make a lovely book: a quotation, a photo and a comment.
I'd buy a book..
ReplyDeleteThere was a book out a few years ago 'Buddhism for bears'. Perhaps, to build on Anonymous' suggestion you could do a book 'Catholicism for bears'? Perhaps a series by Br. Bear OP? By the way we are establishing an international (Enlish, Irish and Maltese) Noviciate in Greyfriars, Oxford in the autumn. you might keep them in your prayers and give them a welcome when they get there: two fine lads from Ireland (though one is Slovak), one Englishman and I don't know how many Maltese. The Novice Master is Irish and a Franciscan scholar. Look out for them!
ReplyDeleteI'd call it, "Bearing Christ".
